Exciting News and Pre-Christmas Sale!

Look what just arrived! Boxes full of Through the Branches: Tales From the Life of an Unusual Family. This is not, yet, the promised follow-up to our first book, but rather a smaller companion to that book.

This book and our first book, Swaying in the Treetops, are now both available online at Barnes and Noble and Amazon. (E-books will be available there in the next few weeks.)

Swaying in the Treetops retails for $33.99 and Through the Branches for $17.49 (prices set by the publisher).

But we are offering, as a pre-Christmas sale, signed copies for $25 and $12, respectively, including shipping and handling.

Click here for details and ordering info.

Please make sure you provide the name(s) of the recipient(s) with correct spelling on that online form, and if you'd like a personalized signing, please share something about the recipient(s) and/or their story. Otherwise, we will be happy to just sign with a generic little note.

This is from the publisher's Diagnostic Review if you'd like to know more about our newest book:
"[In Through the Branches, written] as a companion to their first book, Swaying in the Treetops, the authors share a collection of vignettes that offer an inspiring and entertaining look into the daily life of their large family. With both biological and adopted children, the authors use their real-life stories to encourage other parents and families to embrace the wonder of family relationships. The book is written eloquently and fluently, clearly expressing the story of a unique family and the daily happenings in their life. The writing is easy to understand, detailed, and beautifully written, showing the wonders of life in their family. The authors have portrayed valuable personal experiences, with humility and authenticity, that show true vulnerability that can greatly impact the reader. Many books about family life try to make everything seem perfect, but this book shows the reality of family life, with its challenges and victories, and reveals the beauty of genuine storytelling in family relationships."

We're so excited to share these little stories from inside our family's home, and we hope you are blessed by them. All proceeds go to The Shepherd's Crook Orphan Ministry

Would you please help us spread this news by sharing this blog post?

Long Overdue Update

Some exciting things to share!

First of all, most of our family will all be at the Chautauqua Arts Festival in Madison, Indiana, on this coming Saturday, Sept. 29, doing a book signing at the Village Lights Bookstore. Scott and I will be set up inside the bookstore from 2pm until 5pm. Twenty of our twenty-three kids (plus one granddaughter) will mostly be roaming through this lovely little town throughout the day, checking out the arts exhibits, but will also be popping into the bookstore from time to time.

We would love to meet anyone who is interested in our family, ministry, and/or story.

Copies of our book will be for sale at the counter for $20 each, and we'll be happy to sign any purchased books.

Also, you will be able to pick up info about our upcoming new book, Through the Branches: Tales From the Life of an Unusual Family. That's the next exciting thing to share.

This is not the promised follow-up for Swaying in the Treetops, but, rather, a companion to that first book. This one is a much shorter, lighter-weight book comprised of a collection of vignettes that provide a peek, both humorous and inspirational, into daily life in our home. It is currently being printed now, and should be available for purchase in about six more weeks. This is what our editor had to say about the manuscript:

As a companion to their first book, "Swaying in the Treetops." the authors share a collection of vignettes that offer an inspiring and entertaining look into the daily life of their large family. MANUSCRIPT STRENGTHS

•The book is written eloquently and fluently, clearly expressing the story of a unique family and the daily happenings in their life. The writing is easy to understand detailed, and beautifully written, showing the wonders of life in their family.

•Throughout the book, there is an effective balance of original content and Facebook posts, which keeps the reader engaged and provides an aspect of reality to the book. Facebook is a big part of today's culture, so the reader will likely relate to the way in which the
authors included these posts in the book.

•The authors have portrayed valuable personal experiences, with humility and authenticity, that show true vulnerability that can greatly impact the reader. Many books about family life try to make everything seem perfect, but this book shows the reality of family life, with its challenges and victories, and reveals the beauty of genuine storytelling in family relationships.

Happy Birthday, Sweet Kathryn

My beautiful Kathryn, celebrating her 12th birthday last month. It was a good day back in summer of 2004 when God broke my (Kathy's) heart enough that I finally surrendered and said "yes" to this daughter's adoption in spite my very great fear of her many, many disabilities. What indescribable joy He had waiting for me on the other side of that decision.

Kathryn's is one of several stories you will read in "Swaying In the Treetops: A True Story of Faith and the Fatherless."

Amazon Lowers Price Again

Amazon has Swaying in the Treetops listed at their lowest price ever right now — and it's still Prime! Check it out. If you don't yet have your copy, now would be a good time to grab it. This price is even lower than we are able to offer at our book signings. You can see that at this link on Amazon.

Book Signings

We were so blessed to be able to take an awesome trip to Tampa, FL last week where we did some speaking and a couple of book signings. Why would we be going all the way from Cincinnati, OH, to Tampa, FL, for book signings? If you've already read the book, then you know that our story actually begins with a tragedy in Tampa Bay. It all started there. We were so honored to have been welcomed at Family Christian book store in Lakeland, FL, for our first book signing. They told us that this was the most successful book signing they've had in a really long time. We met some great people that day. Thank you, Family Christian for this opportunity.

Our table all set up and ready for our first book signing
The two of us with Ginnette, the manager of the Lakeland, FL Family Christian

Over and over again, we keep being told that readers, "can't stop reading," or "can't put the book down." The manager asked us to leave some books behind for them to put on their shelves, so Family Christian in Lakeland, FL, has now become the first book store anywhere to sell our book in store (as far as we know.)

Something pretty exciting about seeing our book on a shelf in a book store!
We will be setting up some book signings closer to home here in the Cincinnati area. We'll post updates about those here when we know more.
